Moto Racer 1

Overview

Motorcycle racing games have been a favorite in old arcades for several years. You know which games I mean — the ones where there’s an actual motorcycle body you can sit on and you really have to lean into the turns. The illusion of racing a bullet bike at breakneck speeds is sometimes irresistible. Even better are the arcades that have several machines linked for multiplayer racing. This style of game has been mostly an arcade-only experience until now. Moto Racer brings the adrenaline rush to the PC, and even though it still has a long way to go to match the full arcade machines it was still lots of fun to play, especially with friends.

The limited number of tracks is the biggest drawback, although the great support for multiplayer gaming is a huge plus. Overall, I would recommend it for die-hard motorcycle race fans, but for those not as dedicated to owning every racing game this is probably a good one to skip.

Portable Virtual Grand Prix 2

Virutal Grand Prix 2 is the most advanced open-wheeled racecar simulation ever, developed by Paolo Cattani and his staff at AlasSoft using industrial automotive standards for the simulation of the dynamic components (whose parameters were tuned using real telemetry data) and tested by real one-seater drivers.

To experience something more realistic, you have to race in real race-car competitions! Virtual Grand Prix 2 includes 20 cars, 15 fully detailed tracks, a network game mode, the ‘TrackDesigner2′ track editor tool with all the 15 tracks in source format and a championship mode to try to become the new 2003 World Champion. As a bonus the ‘Techniques’ section of the manual is written by the italian driver E.Colombo. This takes you through a mini-course in the techniques real open-wheeled drivers use to go even faster!
